Michael's First Birthday

Sharon here... Sorry its taken me SO long to finally post about our Michael's first birthday. It was a whirlwind week full of cake, presents, family and friends... and LOTS of fun!

We started the celebration on his birthday morning before his Daddy went to work. Here he is with the wagon we gave him:

We went to lunch later that day with our neighbor and friend. The kids were super cute and Michael always enjoys an ice cream cone!





Finally, on his birthday night, we went with Carolyn and John Thomas to Chuck E. Cheese. I know, it was over the top, but he kept a smile on his face the entire night and the child in all of us had a good time!

With the birtday day complete, we got ready for his doctor's appointment- SHOTS!-, packed up and headed to the Lowcountry. I had to move a few things left in our house in Beaufort on Friday and then we headed to the beach.

Had to taste the sand Friday night to make sure it hadn't changed taste since the last time we were there....

Saturday morning was Birthday Party day-

But like with his arrival a year ago, a tropical system threatened our plans. (Tropical Storm Fay came the week he was born in 08 and Hurricane Bob brought very high tides to Edisto this Saturday, 09.) We went out to the beach Saturday am and there was none- NONE! The tide was so high that water was in the dunes. It was crazy! Carolyn and David bought a blow-up pool and leave it at the beach to enjoy. We spent the morning outside in the backyard and even got Michael to take a quick nap before cake and presents-

Then it was off to a nap.
We ended the birthday celebration later that night with a champagne toast...because honestly, any occasion worth celebrating deserves champagne, in my opinion!


We toasted to the miracle that is our sweet boy Michael, the wonderful way he has blessed our lives this year, to his loving family, and to many, many, many more special occasions to celebrate together. We love you, Michael! Happy 1st Birthday, Son!
